A Wind in the Door

A Wind in the Door

“Every time a star goes out, another Echthros has won a battle.”

Meg Murry and Charles Wallace live in a tilting world full of evils and mysteries that the limited human mind cannot yet grasp.

Before falling deathly-ill, Charles Wallace spots a whole drive of dragons in the vegetable garden. The many dragons turn out to be Proginoskes, sent by the teacher Blajeny to help Meg and Charles. Proginoskes is a cherubim composed of wings, eyes, flame, and wind.

As things that Meg and Charles Murry have never thought possible before are revealed to them. They must learn to trust one another in order to defeat the Echthroi, those who hate and destroy, to save Charles and the whole universe. Meg Murry and Proginoskes along with Calvin, Meg’s friend, and Mr. Jenkins, the principal, travel deep into Yadah, one of Charles’ mitochondria, to stop the Echthroi, to bring back perfect peace, love, and harmony, and to preserve the rhythm of creation.

A Wind in the Door. Author Madeleine L’engle

This book is futuristic and conceptual with a sci-fi bent which is good for grades 6–12 who enjoy the unusual.
