Today, for lunch, we visited a restaurant famous for its jajangmyeon. It was raining. Dashing through the rain- with only one umbrella, we made it to the restaurant.
We ordered jajangmyeon and a big bowl of clam soup. Chewy and fresh, the handmade noodles were the highlight of my meal. Through a window, people could observe the chefs preparing perfect servings of handmade noodle.
The chef held a large slab of dough and was flattening and rolling it diligently. Then he accordion folded it and cut it up into thin strips.
The lunch was absolutely awesome! I liked the jajangmyeon, but my finicky father thought it was too watery. My brother was indifferent.
The bowl of clams was savory and scrumptious. It had the same handmade noodles and a myriad of tiny clams. The dish overall was delicious, although the clams were hard work.
Since we were in the area, we decided to visit the new Lotte Tower. Shining and elegant, the Tower stands tall, glittering in the sunlight. It was truly a majestic sight.
Gazing in amazement, we hurried inside. The place was bustling and noisy. We bought some overpriced hotteok for my mom, who adores the stuff. Then we entered the mall.
Our eyes were attracted to a lovely golden giant apple with bits of pink hanging about it. We stepped closer to examine it. It was a wishing apple. Golden and sparkly, the Apple sported numerous wishes. You could write your wish on a pink piece of paper and then tie it to the apple.
I wished for a dog, and my mom wished to speak Korean fluently. We tied up our wishes and went to explore the floors of the mall.
On every floor, there were artistic pieces of art showcasing designer brands. We took pictures with each one. From the bottom level to the third floor, was a sweeping staircase of gold.
Next we went to the movie theater to check out which movies they were showing. Wehad already watched Zootopia (By the way, if you haven’t watched that movie yet, hop in your car/your parents’ car and drive over to a movie theatre and watch it right now!) so the next best thing was the movie about Superman vs Batman.
I knew I would be scared, but my dad insisted. My brother showcased his bravado and said he wanted to watch it too, but later during the movie, I could hear him whimpering like a little dog.
We got the tickets and bought some frozen yogurt while we waited for the movie to be ready. Finally, we were allowed to enter the theatre.
Grandiose and Brobdingnagian, the theatre was monumental. There was an extensive space in the front and the screen was gargantuan. Sitting down heavily, we discovered that the chairs were comfy, in a firm kinda way.
The movie began after a few minutes. Afterwards, I asked my parents, “What was the movie about? Was it good?” Because during the movie I was asleep. It was one of those movies I didn’t mind if I missed it, and in fact, I wanted to miss it. It was really loud and long, though.
At 10pm, we finally went home, exhausted from fun!
Tune in for more adventures in Korea.
